25th October 2025 @ 8:00 pm – 10:00 pm
IN THIS UNIQUE double-bill, two actor-writers—GRACE KIRKBY & PETER MACQUEEN perform their own one-person shows, each directed by the other. Grace Kirby as a put-upon but compassionate NHS delivery driver, carrying meds to a cast of memorable characters (all played by Grace), along the the Cumbrian stretch of Hadrian’s Wall and Peter Macqueen as a butterfly lover marooned on a tower of furniture in his flooded house, waiting—and hoping—for the waters to recede…
Working with acclaimed sound designer/composers Mark Melville and José Guillermo Puello and set designer Martin Johns, they have created two intensely realised worlds out of nothing but words, a few props, simple sets and soundscapes of quietly dramatic beauty.
Rehearsals for their 2025 tour were here at Upfront and this performance will be the final performance of the tour. Two very powerful topics made excellently entertaining by the very talented Grace Kirby and Peter Macqueen. A must-see production.”
We’re sorry to announce that due to illness, Grace Kirby is unable to perform ‘Nancy’s Orange’ at UpFront on Saturday 25 October. However, the show must go on! Peter Macqueen will perform The Butterfly Collector in the first half, and after the interval will give a short illustrated talk about his passion for butterflies (and moths) and the strange history of collecting, followed by a Q & A session. And of course we’re still serving fabulous pre-show food and drink from 5.30pm for a full evening’s entertainment.
Complimentary tea/coffee/cake will be served in the inerval
