The upstairs gallery space in the barn has a ceramic exhibition by Syl Macro to celebrate “60 years a Potter”.
Syl has been living and creating ceramics in Cumbria since 1990 when she moved to Alston from the North East. “The dramatic landscape, and ever changing colours and moods have given me the ideas and inspiration for the work I now make. Working in coloured clay gives me the right sort of possibilities for creating landscapes, both in pots and wall pieces. I am able to produce all sorts of textures from impressed fabrics, stones and plant material, to added minerals, fossils and crushed glass, and of course stains and oxides to produce colour in the clay, all contributing to the finished impressions of landscape colour in the clay, all contributing to the finished impressions of landscape”.
In the Barn Gallery we have a mixed exhibition of oil paintings by Geoffrey Smith and Marion Bradley, watercolour paintings by Irene Sanderson, lino prints by Susan Rowland; plus giclee limited edition prints by Libby Edmondson and Mary Ann Rogers.
