2021 UPFRONT ARTISTS OPEN EXHIBITION

Due to the Covid-19 and the national “Lockdowns” we have decided that there will be no “Open” exhibition in January 2022.  Please keep checking back here for any future updates.

The annual Upfront Open Exhibition is now in its 20th year. The purpose of the show is to exhibit a wealth and wide cross section of artistic talent. The panel of judges choose an eclectic mix of work in various media and styles, both 2D and 3D.

The exhibition displays around 100 selected works in our various gallery spaces.

The “Open Exhibition” is totally self-funded. Entry fees create a budget to stage and advertise the exhibition, to hold a preview evening and to award cash prizes.

There is usually a First Prize of £1,000 plus other prize categories to be decided by the judges, according to the number of entries and the cross section of work submitted. These will be reviewed this year due to the uncertain times during the current pandemic

The prize winners for 2020 were:

1st Prize.  Brian Shields, “Strong & Rising (The Pool is the Past)” – acrylic on canvas, part mirrored glass.

Joint 2nd Prize. Kate Bentley,  “Boudoir” – watercolour, egg tempera.  Sylvia Macro, “Roof of England” – coloured clay.

3rd Prize. Andrew Harrison, “Scotch on the Rocks” – acrylic on board with airbrush.
