DESCRIPTION:This year’s Christmas production at Upfront Puppet Theatre is a magical retelling of the classic French fairy tale: “Puss in Boots.” \n\n\n\nThis faithful adaptation brings the beloved story to life with a cast of expertly crafted long string marionettes\, stunning special effects and an original musical score. \n\n\n\nThe story begins with three sons inheriting very different gifts: one receives a mill\, another a donkey\, and the youngest is left only a cat. But this is no ordinary cat — he can talk\, and he’s on a mission to change his master’s fortunes. Using a mixture of long string marionettes and rod puppets\, Pinocchio is carved on stage\, comes alive and sets off on his many adventures. He performs on a marionette stage within the puppet show meeting two clowns\, Harlequin and Pulcinell; he is tricked by a cat and a fox into burying and losing his newly earned money; he flies on the back of a pigeon and he is chased and swallowed by a huge shark. DESCRIPTION:The Upfront Puppet Theatre Christmas production is “Puss in Boots”. The show is based on the original French fairy tale. The father of the family dies and the oldest son inherits the flour mill; the second a donkey and the youngest son\, Marco\, inherits a cat! BUT this is no ordinary cat. Puss has magical qualities that enable him to talk and stand on two legs. DESCRIPTION:A spectacular performance\, involving a mixture of 40 rod and string puppets. Based on the Grimm’s fairy tale\, performed on a revolving stage\, set in medieval times with traditional period music. This show appeals to all ages\, both children and adults. \n\n\n\nWill evil be conquered by good?  \n\n\n\nCan anything be done to undo a spell cast by the evil witch\, Carabos? \n\n\n\nCan frogs really talk? \n\n\n\nThis was our fourth production\, originally staged in 2006\, and the first one to combine rod puppets with marionettes. The towers of the castle drew open to reveal the palace settings and rod puppets appeared in the side towers behind gauze for the scene where Sleeping Beauty pricked her finger with a spindle and the residents of the palace fell asleep for a hundred years. \n\n\n\nSleeping Beauty Gallery\n\n\nDancing courtiersSleeping Beauty awakesThe cat leads Sleeping Beauty to the forbidden towerThe christeningThe enchanted garden with the castle towers openThe evil fairy casts her spellThe frog talks to the chancellor and the kingThe gardenThe knight and the woodcutter outside the forestThe queen at the well
