DESCRIPTION:One of Africa’s leading traditional drumming groups\, the Kakatsitsi Master Drummers from Ghana\, combine with Mbilou\, a ceremony leader\, spiritual healer\, musician and dancer from Gabon to present a unique fusion set. \n\n\n\nMbilou is a ‘Nganga’ (spiritual healer / ceremony leader)\, musician and dancer from the Bwiti traditional religion of the forest regions of equatorial Africa\, modern day Gabon. Bwiti is an ancient shamanic tradition\, originally practised solely by the forest peoples of the central African rainforest. He plays the Mungongo (the mouth bow with the monostring)\, the Ngoma-Ngombi (the sacred harp that speaks the voice of the ancestors)\, the Etsika (the Ciessi horse antelope horn used to call spirits) as well as various drums and shakers / bells. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets (booking fees apply) £16 in advance or £17 on the door. DESCRIPTION:Kirsty is making a very welcome return. She was one of the first musicians to ever play at Upfront and she has returned several times. This occasion will be part of her 2019 Tour with fellow singer songwriter Ben Bedford\, from America. “A couple of years ago\, at 3 in the morning\, two songwriters collided in a seventh floor corridor at the Crown Westin Hotel\, Kansas City Missouri. One was noticeable for his large beard and the other was a woman carrying a saw. This year\, for the first time and for a limited run of shows\, these two artists Kirsty McGee (UK) and Ben Bedford (US) will be touring and collaborating together.”. Kisty’s 8th album will also be released in October. You can expect an intimate & memorable live show with tales from both sides of the Atlantic\, soft voices & delicate guitar work.
