The Pied Piper of Hamelin
22/07/2018 - 02/09/2018
This production is based on a version of the story by Michael Morpurgo. The book illustrations by Emma Chichester Clark, were the inspiration for the scenery and costumes. Northumbrian musicians "Landermason", have composed the beautiful musical score. This version of the classic fairytale about the mysterious piper who visits Hamelin town and leaves with its children, shows that the story is as relevant now as it ever was.

The production uses marionettes, rod puppets and many, many rats.

Cinderella presented by Upfront Puppet Theatre
17/12/2017 - 03/01/2018
New production underway for Christmas.

Suitable for ages 4 to 94

Our new production of Cinderella will be a fun filled interpretation of the classic fairy story by Charles Perrault. It will be fully staged using a combination of rod and string puppets, special stage effects, scenery and lighting that will bring the show to life.

Cinderella will be helped by a slightly dotty Fairy Godmother who has to persuade her to wear a sparkly gown and to travel to the Princes ball in a stylish glass coach. The kitchen mice in the show are very ”street wise” and Guss the cat is a bit soppy. The two ugly sisters are desperate to marry the Prince and they dress in the latest fashion to attract his attention, but unfortunately their dress sense is not so good!

Will Cinderella make it back home before the clock strikes twelve and the Fairy Godmothers spell times out? Will the Prince find a girl who can wear the lost slipper, so that he can ask her to marry him? All will be revealed as our show unfolds.

Come and see a performance in the north of England's only dedicated 128 seat puppet theatre.
