"Overground/Underground" by Diversity Textile Group

A new exhibition by creative stitch group, "Diversity".

The theme of the exhibition is "Overground / Underground". There will also be a selection of their retrospective work, "Inspired By".

The exhibition will include about 100 pieces of work.

17th Upfront Artists Open Exhibition

The Upfront Open Exhibition for 2017 welcomes entries from all artists. The purpose of the show is to exhibit a wealth and wide cross section of artistic talent. The panel of judges choose an eclectic mix of work in various media and styles, both 2D and 3D. This years exhibition contains 150 selected works in our various gallery spaces.

The 2017 prize winners are:

1st Prize. Brian Shields. Armathwaite, Cumbria. For all three pieces of his work.

2nd Prize. Kate Bentley. Kendal, Cumbria.

3rd Prize. Finlay Ralph, Chorley, Lancashire. For 2 pieces of work.

The “Open Exhibition” is totally self-funded. Entry fees create a budget to stage and advertise the exhibition, to hold a preview evening and to award cash prizes.

First Prize £1,000 plus other prize categories to be decided by the judges, according to the number of entries and the cross section of work submitted.

The work of over 35 Cumbrian potters and ceramicists will be on display in the "Upstairs @ Upfront" gallery space. This will be one of the largest exhibitions in Cumbria of ceramics by Cumbrian artists.
