"Always Look on the Bright Side"
4th Oct 2016 - 18th Nov 2016
Exhibitors
An exhibition of oil paintings by Scotland-based landscape artist, Julie Dumbarton.

Julie was one of the first young artists to exhibit with us when we opened the Gallery almost 20 years ago. She has worked with determination and she has become an artist of international reputation. Her work reflects her passionate, positive attitude towards life and painting and her absolute love of colour.

"As a youngster I was often to be found roaming the Lake District hills with my brother, sister and parents. Many weekends were spent scrambling up hills – surrounded by glorious landscapes, atmospheric skies and colourful plants. I’m obsessed with colour, as you can see in many of my paintings, and strive to show the subtle details that we all see but often go unnoticed".

Light in the Landscape

Mark is a Printmaker and Contemporary Landscape Painter. It is the effect of light and colour within the landscape that fascinates Mark. He is continually experimenting within, and between, media and disciplines in order to share what is so compelling to him. It is the tone, colour and contrast created by shadow and light in the landscape that he strives to convey in his vibrant images. Marks' insight comes by looking at this very special part of the world, where the mountains meet the sea, through a graphic designer’s eye.
