Upfront Gallery and vegetarian restaurant are located near Penrith, Cumbria in a rural setting in beautifully converted 17th century farm buildings.

The gallery is the home of Upfront Puppet Theatre and the workshops of artist, John Parkinson, who is the co-founder and owner of the gallery, along with his wife, Elaine.

The gallery presents a changing program of exhibitions throughout the year. In mid January it holds the "Upfront Open Exhibition". This is a selected exhibition by a panel of judges and entries are welcome from artists from Cumbria and beyond.

Open Daily 10am to 4.30pm.

A self-catering holiday cottage, uniquely designed eco-lodge and two static caravans are also available on site.


Parking is possible directly outside the main entrance door of the gallery and level smooth access is available to all the main downstairs areas of the building.

There is an easy access entrance for wheelchair users, plus easy access and baby changing toilet facilities.

The main downstairs area, which includes the exhibition area, coffee shop and gift shop is all on one level. The puppet theatre has a level entrance, with raked seating and space at the front for wheelchairs. A lift is installed which will give access to the first floor of the new theatre building.
